Indoor Coaching in Wanganui

March 28th 2017

Around 20 shooters and parents turned up at the Okoia indoor range near Wanganui on Sunday 26th March for a coaching course run by Grant Taylor.

Experience ranged from just starting out and still shooting off a block to only a few weeks in a jacket and sling to seasoned veterans.  Everyone learnt something from their time with Grant.

The talk and demonstration to start the day went through how Grant sets up his gear and how he prepares for and then shoots a match.  The newer shooters could see how to set themselves up and start the shooting process. The older shooters were reminded of the results for not following the process or not having equipment set up correctly.  This resulted in some changes to rifles before moving onto the range.

On the range Grant watched people shooting, their position and technique and then suggested changes if required. The changes were mainly small but resulted in big changes with group sizes coming down.

Tips and tricks were freely shared throughout the day which benefitted all levels of shooters.

Running the course away from a busy club night took time constraints away.  Along with Grant’s relaxed delivery style it made for a fun day and everyone left with a smile on their face and looking forward to the start of the Indoor season.
