Coronation Target Shooting wins Community Volunteering Award

The Coronation Target Shooting Club Inc in Ashburton were honoured recipients of a Trustpower Community Award at a function at the Ashburton Hotel on May 8.


These awards are run in 24 areas around New Zealand and they celebrate volunteers in a range of sectors. Coronation were nominated in the Sport and Leisure section for Ashburton and were surprised and humbled winners of this award for 2017.


An independent juding panel that comprised Trustpower, local councillors and community representatives noted that the contribution Coronation made to their community “….has brought pride and esteem to your Club members and increased firearm safety and awareness throughout the community. We thank you for your efforts.”

 

 

Congratulations to the hardworking members of the Coronation Target Shooting Club!  The success of the shooting programme they run with Ashburton College was a large part of the recognition they  received, and how this came about is described in the article above.    Thanks to Bryan Hunter for putting this information together for us.
