Coaching at Dannevirke

The Dannevirke Smallbore Rifle Club was a hive of activity last Sunday with a coaching session led by top New Zealand coaches Jon Phillipps and Helen Freiman from the Manawatu. 

32 shooters, 15 female and 17 male, of all ages from around the Wairarapa, Southern Hawkes Bay and Hawkes Bay attended.   The morning session focused on assisting club coaches learn how to train new shooters followed by an afternoon of theory and practical hands-on work with position and techniques.  This coaching session was made possible through funding from Sport Manawatu.

There was something from the two sessions for everyone.  A lot of the afternoon session was aimed at beginners to the sport but many experienced shooters picked up a lot of information and tips that would be invaluable to helping themselves progress, while also coaching others.
