Our NZ shooters at the ISSF World Champs in Changwon, Korea, have now all shot their Prone Elimination matches.

In the Men's match 60 of the 111 men entered in the Elimination round moved on to the Competition match that was shot today - final results are below.  Martin Hunt, who shot in Elimination 2, didn't progress to the Competition match.

And in the Women's match, congratulations to Helen Freiman who made it through to the Competition match of 60 shooters, from the original 86 entered in the Elimination matches.  Helen's match was shot today and she finished up in 52nd place - final results are below.   Denva Wren (in Elimination 1) and Janet Hunt (in Elimination 2) didn't progress to the Competition match.

Both Denva and Jon Phillipps have both been putting regular posts on Facebook about their experiences in Korea, so for those of you who are not "Facebook friendly", here's some info from them:

From Denva, 5/9 -

Well done to Helen today for making the qualification round tomorrow. In 31degC and high humidity it made for an interesting afternoon. Unfortunately for Martin, Janet and I we didn’t make the cut on our details.

I do have a couple of interesting pictures today though.

Janet shooting her detail; baffle construction and the swampy area we were shooting over; and massive bags of hot chillies in the department store - yes a random pic.

Thank everyone for the good wishes that we’ve been getting. Will post more photos tomorrow of the shooting.

Women’s Teams medals went to Germany, Denmark & Great Britain - we watched an impressive 628.4 shot on the last detail by Jaqueline Orth (GER)!! Amazing!!

50 metre Range construction. Pretty solid and impressive. Baffles are all clad in decking timber. A great facility. It would be nice to have something like this in New Zealand

For those of you keen to see a few pictures of the range, here’s a little snapshot from this mornings unofficial practice. 80 mounds on the 50m range based on level 2 of the shooting complex - I was impressed there was still grass!!

The weather gods did decide to deliver rain for a good portion of the day, hence not too many outside pics.

So far the event seems very well organised. The Opening Ceremony is tomorrow and then the kiwi team will kick into action.
