Waitomo Open POSTAL

June 3rd 2020

Te Awamutu Smallbore Club are hosting the new Waitomo Open Postal event, and have now extended the date for entries to Monday 8th June.

They have also been asked for an address to send cheques to for entry fees - post to Te Awamutu Smallbore Rifle Club, PO Box 333, Te Awamutu 3840

The Club has already received entries from as far afield as Dunedin, so it's great to see people taking this new match format on board.

PROFILE of Te Awamutu Smallbore Rifle Club

Te Awamutu Smallbore Rifle Club started in 1951 and soon become one of the strongest clubs in the Auckland Association, as it was then.  The Club has been active ever since although there was a period of 2008 – 2012 or so when it was very quiet, with only 3 – 4 shooters.  More recently we have rebuilt the Club and have a good core of competitive shooters, and for the first time in probably 15 years will have graded shooters in all of M A B C and D grades.

Club nights are Tuesday nights, and if anyone is travelling through they are welcome to come and join us.

We are fortunate we own the building which sits on Council Reserve.  The Rosetown Pistol club uses the range weekly and the Te Awamutu Deerstalkers use the rooms for meetings and have a monthly evening shoot for hunting .22LR.  If anyone would like to donate a new roof for the clubrooms please don’t hesitate to get in touch!!!

We have been hosting the Waitomo Open for the last 4 – 5 years since the Waitomo Smallbore Rifle Club went into recess.  The Waitomo Open was initiated when the Waitomo Smallbore Rifle Club was formed as part of the Waitomo Small Arms Society in approximately 1982.

We hope you enjoy your shooting in this 2020 postal Open match, and we look forward to collating results and getting them published.
