TSNZ Special General Meeting

August 7th 2020

A TSNZ Special General Meeting was held via Zoom on 6th August 2020.

The only business at this meeting was to decide whether the 2020 TSNZ AGM should be held as a distance meeting via Zoom, rather than as the usual face-to-face meeting planned to be held in Wellington on 31st October.

Delegates from 20 of TSNZ’s 28 Associations and Directly Affiliated Clubs plus three Life Members, representing 968 of the 1,197 available votes, attended, along with the seven members of the TSNZ Executive.

Delegates were given the opportunity to comment on the proposal and many did, with the main concern being the loss of social interaction if this change went ahead.  There were also many comments on the uncertainty around travel costs, Members’ health, and reduced income for both TSNZ and Clubs/Associations as a result of the Covid-19 situation.  It was confirmed that this meeting was making a decision on the 2020 AGM only, and changes to any further AGMs would need to be considered in the future if needed.

A ballot was taken following the discussions, and this resulted in 99% of the votes agreeing to make the change to a Zoom AGM for 2020.

Details of the new AGM format to be held on 31st October will be released with the Notice of Meeting and Remits, and will be circulated to Associations prior to 31st August as usual.
