NZ vs Australia - Outdoor matches 2023

The 2023 matches against Australia (Slazenger, Womens and Juniors) were all won by default as unfortunately Target Rifle Australia were unable to field full teams for any of those matches at their Nationals held in Perth over Easter weekend.  With 22 shooters being required for the Slazenger perhaps this is slightly understandable, but it must hurt to not even manage the five Women or three Juniors needed to compete.  It seem entries at their Nationals were well down on previous years, but hopefully they will be able to provide us with a good competition next year for these matches.

2022 Outdoor International Matches - Wakefield and Drew RESULTS

Congratulations to our NZ Teams for a clean sweep, winning all of the UK NSRA international matches that they shot at the 2022 Outdoor Nationals in Trentham.

The Wakefield and Drew matches run by the UK's NSRA had teams from Great Britain, USA and Australia in the mix.  That NZ won all sections they entered is a fantastic feat!

Aus Nats 2018 3 red.jpg

Congratulations to the 2018 Slazenger, Womens, and Junior Teams who shot their 50m Prone match at the TSNZ Outdoor Nationals in February this year – Australia have just held their TRA National Championships in Brisbane, and NZ had a win in ALL three sections!

The Slazenger match was incredibly close, with NZ’s winning margin only 1.3, this being after a 60-shot match for 20 shooters gaining over 1,200 points.  The other teams had stronger wins, so well done to them all.

Congratulations also to Ross Lomas, who won Bronze in the C-Grade 50m Prone at the Aussie Nationals.

Only a small group of NZ shooters travelled to Brisbane this year to shoot, possibly due to the change in timing – the event is usually held over Easter but was later this year due to the Commonwealth Games.   It’s a great event to go to whatever your Grade, the Australians are all very welcoming, and it’s always a fun week away.  And yes, there WERE wallabies up on that hill behind the range!

The next Australian Nationals will be in Perth over Easter 2019, so if you’'ve been looking for a reason to head west, here it is.  Keep an eye out on our website for information, which will be posted as it becomes available from Target Rifle Australia.
