2026 NDC
Dear Co-ordinators and TSNZ members,
Please find attached the results of Round 1 of NDC 2026.
There is a write up on each League.
For the 2026 season the Leagues have been named after the Cups that are presented at the end of the Season.
- The Casey Cup is named after Grant Casey, who, together with Bruce Marchant, created NDC.
A trial of the competition was held in 1997, with competition starting in earnest in 1998.
- The Marchant Cup is named after Bruce and Lois Marchant who donated the cup when the A League became too large and needed to be split into 2 divisions.
- The Henshaw Cup was donated by Russell Henshaw when the B League was created for teams that needed a fewer number of competitors.
For Round 1 of the 2026 season:
Notable Competitors:
In the Open section were bonus point scores for Roy Herbison (100.10), and Chris Harrison (200.16), Jason Cameron (200.15), and Craig Ireland (200.12).
In the Junior section, Pippa Taylor shot a pair of hundreds, (100.7 and 100.8), as did Dante Arthur (100.2 and 100.6), to gain their respective teams 2 bonus points each.
Also gaining Junior bonus points were Trot Newton (100.7), Hugo Smith (100.7), Nate Woods (100.7), Hester du Plessis (100.5), Alex Christie (100.5), and Eliza McKenzie (100.5).
295 people took part in Round 1.
From the Jaffas reserves we see the return of Juliet Etherington, a former New Zealand representative, who won 3 Commonwealth Games Medals.
Also in the Jaffa team, is Steve Petterson MNZM, who won 4 Gold and 1 Silver Commonwealth Games Medals across 5 Commonwealth Games, as well as representing NZL at 4 Olympics Games, and Sean McCabe who also represented New Zealand at the highest levels.
We are delighted to see the return of such excellent shooters who have taken life breaks, and have come back to the sport that they love. Their knowledge and enthusiasm will hopefully inspire others to return to our sport.
If there are any other former NZL reps shooting NDC please let me know and I can share their accolades.
Note Rule 6.1 is unchanged from previous years and all team members need to be affiliated to TSNZ by round 2.
