5th NOVEMBER
So all week we've been practicing in heat, sun, and stong-ish left to right winds. Today the 50m Prone match gave us rain, dull light and fickle breezes - quite the challenge.
Congratulations to:
Mens Oceania Championship - NZ A Team - Martin Hunt, Owen Bennett and Ryan Booth - Bronze
Womens Oceania Championship - Shania Harrison-Lee - Gold, plus a new Junior Oceania Record with 619.4
Womens Oceania Championship - NZ A Team - Shania Harrison-Lee, Stephanie McNair and Denva Wren - Silver
Womens Oceania Championship - NZ B Team - Janet Hunt, Jackie Lindsay and Piper Benbow - Bronze
Open Championship - Janet Hunt - Bronze
Open Championship Junior Men - Shaun Jeffery - Gold
It's been a great competition with fantastic team spirit from the NZ shooters. Many thanks to our hard-working manager Robbie McNair and all the team supporters who contributed to the success of the event.
4th NOVEMBER
It was "marathon day" for our 3P shooters today - all 5 of them shot the 3 x 20 match and then moved into their respective finals. Top-soring NZ Woman was Piper Benbow in both the Qualifcation and Final, while in the Men's match Owen Bennett was the top NZ score in the Qualification but was overtaken by Shaun Jeffery in the the Final. A fantastic effort from our shooters who have so much less experience and match time than our Australian opponents.
Tomorrow is the final day of competition, with the Prone matches being held.
3rd NOVEMBER
It was another great day on the Air Rifle Range in Brisbane. We had three teams competing in the Air Rifle Mixed Pairs event, and all three NZ teams made it through to the final. It was another nerve-wracking final but the shooters did well. Congratulations to Owen Bennett and Issy Adams for winning Silver, and Sean Moriary and Piper Benbow on winning Bronze. Well done to all of today's athletes, and good luck to those shooting in the 3P matches tomorrow.
2nd NOVEMBER
The TSNZ team of 50m Prone, 3P, and Air Rifle shooters have been arriving in Brisbane over the past few days, and have been faced with temperatures up to 31 degrees and strong sea breezes. We're now all here, and enjoyed a team barbecue last night, along with team photos and a Manager's pep talk from Robbie.
1st NOVEMBER
First order for everyone was some practice time, gear checking, and getting used to the environment. The range is quite something for those who haven't travelled overseas to compete before, as is finding you may be shooting next to a "big name" shooter from Australia.
The Air Rifle Shooters had their official Pre-Event Training (PET) on Wednesday, followed by the Mens and Womens Air Rifle competitions early on Thursday morning. Well done to all those who competed.
