With all shooting events having been removed from the Commonwealth Games programme for Birmingham 2022 (despite rigorous protests from shooting organisations throughout the Commonwealth) the alternative Commonwealth Archery & Shooting Championships have been agreed for January 2022 to be held in Chandigarh, in the Northern Indian states of Punjab and Haryana. This is a separate event from the Commonwealth Games, however medals won at this event will be added to medal tallies from those Games.
There is very little known about the dates, venue or Qualifying and Selection Criteria for the event, and the world-wide Covid-19 crisis has now added further uncertainty to the event.
As at July 2020 the advice from NZSF is that any NZ athletes who have aspirations towards this event should attend the usual Designated Matches from 1st August 2020 through to 2021, as these scores can then be used for qualifying and MQS's as required.
